Value as a mathematical equation

When I was a kid, my grandfather taught me that value was a mathematical equation.

This was his theory:

In business if you buy something for a dollar you should try to sell it for two dollars. But, if you want to make it valuable to someone else you should buy it for a dollar, find someone who would be willing to pay three dollars for it and only charge them two dollars. In his mind, the willingness to pay more was predicated on the person you were buying from. To him value was relational and mathematical.

If you want to bring real value, remember that value is predicated by your willingness to lean in, be authentic, and go the extra mile.
